December 29, 2009: American Electric Gives Lucky Winner Free Electricity for 2010
Honolulu, HI – At the 45th Annual Food & New Products Expo in October, Jean M. Rasor, 65, stopped by the American Electric booth and dropped his name into the drawing for free electricity for a year. Yesterday, American Electric Chairman Bob Dewitz wrote out a check to Rasor in the amount of $2,400 to help pay for his electricity costs for all of 2010.
October 8, 2009: American Electric Provides Free Electrical Service to Nonprofit Facility
Honolulu, HI – In conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week (October 5th-10th), American Electric's Residential Services Division has given a free electrical inspection as the company's community service to a local nonprofit facility to reduce the risk of electrical fire. According to the U.S. Fire Administration's web site, "Most electrical fires result from problems with 'fixed wiring' such as faulty electrical outlets and old wiring. In urban areas, faulty wiring accounts for 33% of residential electrical fires." American Electric's Residential Services Division also plans to donate the necessary repairs on the minor problems that they found during their inspection.
