June 1, 2009: American Electric Moves to Better Serve Maui
In an effort to better serve Maui, American Electric Company, LLC, Hawaii's largest, locally-owned electrical contractor, has recently moved into its own newly constructed building located at 360 East Uahi Way in Wailuku.
American Electric's Wailuku location features a 6,000 sq. ft. office and shop space, designed specifically to address Maui's growing motor service, TEGG Service and electric machine repair needs. American Electric has been servicing industrial and commercial clients on Maui for over nine years from its previous location at 140B Hobron Avenue in Kahului.
"This new office reflects our commitment to meeting Maui's needs and providing local businesses with the highest quality of electrical services. We have experienced tremendous growth over the years on Maui and this location will provide us with the additional capabilities needed to meet the needs of the community as Maui's preferred provider of comprehensive and reliable electrical solutions," said Jason Chai, Vice President of American Electric's Maui Division.
Since establishing a presence on Maui in 2000, American Electric has been involved in the completion of projects ranging from the construction of the Digital Airport Surveillance Radar (DASR) and Explosive Detection System (EDS) at Kahului Airport to repair and upgrade projects at Maui Community College and Kahului Harbor. American Electric has also participated in the construction of the Royal Lahaina Grand Showroom as well as the Keopuolani Hale on the Kamehameha School Maui Campus and currently serves as the TEGG Service provider for local Maui companies like Ameron Hawaii, the County of Maui Wastewater Division and Maui Soda & Ice Works. "We are well-positioned to respond to large scale electrical projects, not just on Maui but throughout the islands," said Tom Vincent, CEO of American Electric.
Founded in 1947, American Electric Company, LLC is one of the largest contractors in the state and is a signatory to IBEW Local 1186, Electrical Worker's Union in Honolulu. The company has performed work on private, federal, state, and city projects across the state and is a LEED-certified electrical contractor and Hawaii's only TEGG Service provider. American Electric has offices located on Oahu, Maui, Hawaii and Kauai.
