Honolulu, HI – American Electric Company, LLC, Hawaii's largest, locally owned electrical contractor, is rolling out the first of a wide range of electrical services to Hawaii homes through its new Residential Services Division.

"Given the recent decline in the real estate market, the need to maintain and improve the value of one’s home has never been so essential," said Tom Vincent, CEO of American Electric.

The Residential Services Division will first offer residents the CurrentSAFE® service, a state-of-the-art service that uses thermographic and ultrasonic testing equipment to detect concealed electrical problems within the home. Previously this type of state-of-the-art preventative and maintenance technology was only available to commercial and industrial customers.

"The fact is that there is nothing more important than protecting your family and your home, and that means knowing about the condition of your electrical system before they become problems," said Calvin Jeong, Director of Residential Sales for American Electric. "The CurrentSAFE® system allows American Electric to provide a level of assurance and piece of mind to homeowners and residents that was not available before," he added.

Using the new CurrentSAFE® equipment, electricians can evaluate the state of the entire electrical system within the home/unit. Upon completion, homeowners receive a comprehensive report specifying any and all electrical risk factors. These risks include wiring and outlet problems, shock hazards and other electrical issues.

American Electric's Residential Services will be made available to the Neighbor Islands in early 2010. Other electrical services to be offered include wiring, repairs, photovoltaic and home generator installations.

FREE Electrical Assessments for Oahu Homeowners

American Electric will be offering free assessments of electrical system components to Oahu homeowners. These visual assessments take roughly two hours and will help determine if the residence needs CurrentSAFE® preventative service.
